Nothing is sacred as Crossed returns! The biggest hit horror series of the year returns with an all-new six-issue series written by David (Stray Bullets) Lapham! Set right at the start of the Crossed outbreak, this epic tale of depravity promises to shock and disturb you with even more intensity than the first series! The Pratt family lived a idyllic life on a horse ranch in North Carolina. A few generations of family working, living, and learning together. But not all things should be shared with, nor done to, other human beings. Much less your own family. Some men are just born evil, some men are turned Crossed. But which is worse? Imagine, for a moment, the worst crimes against humanity. Picture the cruelest affronts to decency. Conjure your darkest nightmares... and then realize it could all be so much worse. When civilization crumbles in one terrifying moment; when people are gleefully breaking into unthinkable acts of violence all around you; when everyone you love has died screaming in agony What do you do? There is no help. There is no hope. There is no escape. There are only the Crossed.

While the Crossed are horrible and then some, at least they have some sort of excuse. They have contracted a disease that makes them monsters to their very core. The family, on the other hand, should not be a place where monsters hide. Still, try telling it to the three girls that live in this large family living in the middle of nowhere, preparing for the worst. They know what it means to be daddy's favorite, and that is a place they seem to try to escape all the time. That's the reason the oldest is out looking for the Crossed, and why she sees them coming in droves. It is also why shewants to take her youngest sister away and why, ultimately, why she finds herself outside the circle of trust. Still, with the Crossed at their gates, squabbling is the least of their concerns. right now, it is not becoming the things we have seen before.

In this version of Crossed, you still have the horror you expect to find. In fact, I would say you have some things that are really a lot more gruesome and disturbed. In a way i like that because, in so many ways, this is what the world would become. The infected would not be nice hosts when it came down to it, nor would the people that lived through their assaults. And the types of people out there - as the first Crossed book noted, not all the people who make it are the people we want to look up to. Far from it, in fact.

You really need a hard stomach to the depravity here and you really want to see the sights that some back away from. I like the stories personally, but some find that a terrible thing in and of itself. If you need a reason why, look at some of the montage pictures you can find on this and check them out in detail. Regardless, the book is a nice set-up and a great thing to start up.
